Banasura Dam
Banasura Dam is a noteworthy attraction of Wayand district as it is the largest earth dam in India. The dam is hemmed in by arresting blue hills. It is a popular picnic spot in the Wayand district.
Kalpetta
Kalpetta is a destination where the famous Ananthanathaswamy Jain Temple is located. The headquarter of the Wayanad district is also located here.
Chembra Peak
Towering to an altitude of 2100 m, the Chembra Peak is the tallest peak of the Wayanad district. Climb the peak and great your senses with breathtaking views of nature. DTPC organizes treks to the peak in a group of ten at a time.
Edakkal Caves
Edakkal Caves are wonderful caves locared on Ambukutty mala mountain. The caves houses prehistoric rock engravings including a human figure with headgear, a human figure on wheeled cart, images of a tribal king and queen, a deer and an elephant.
Heritage Museum, Ambalavayal
This museum is dedicated to the tribal communities. It houses ancient articles such as hunting equipments like bows and arrows, stone weapons, musical instruments, bangles and ear ornaments. The museum is open from 9 am to 6 pm.
Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
Sheltering a wide variety of wildlife species, Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1973 with a noble aim of conserving the flora and fauna of the region.
By Air: Kozhikode is the nearest airport, which is well connected to the major cities such as Delhi, Coiambatore, Mumbai, Kochi, Goa, Chennai and Trivandrum.
By Rail: Calicut is the nearest airport that is connected to the main regions of Wayanad district.
By Road: Wayanad district is connected to main cities by a good network of road.
Shop for aromatic spices in Wayanad. The handicrafts and handloom items available here are simply beautiful. Most of the handicrafts in Wanayad are made from raw materials like coconut, shells, ivory, canes, wood and metals. One of the famous shopping items here is the Kathakali mask.
