Places To See in Shimla

Summer Hill

Situated on the Shimla-Kalka railway line, this hill serves as a great trek route at an altitude of 1283 m. People also visit the hill to see the Georgian House of Raj Kumari Amrit Kaur where Gandhiji used to live during his visits to Shimla.

The Ridge

Situated in the heart of Shimla, the Ridge is the highest point of the city. It offers a bird's eye view of the entire region. It is also the perfect place to get a clear look of the snow-clad mountain ranges.

Jakhu Temple

Located at a 45 minute walk from the Mall, this temple lies at an altitude of 2455 m. the temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and witnesses the maximum crowd every Tuesday. Being located near the the highest point of Shimla ridge, the temple offers amazing views of the mountains, valleys and the changing skyline at dusk and dawn.

The Mall

Being the main shopping area of Shimla, it is the most happening place in the region. Shopping lovers and sightseers reach the Mall by a passenger lift via Cart Road. Lakkar Bazaar (Wood Market) is situated quite close to the Mall.

Prospect Hill

The hill offers marvellous views of the entire city of Shimla and the nearby hills. Besides, pilgrims visit Prospect hill to seek for the blessings of Goddess Kamna Devi who resides here in a small temple.

Christ Church

Built in 1846-1857, this church is one of the most popular churches of Shimla. It is supposed to be the second oldest church in North India and is popular for its outstanding architecture.

Tattapani

Tattapani is a small village near Shimla and is famous for its hot water sulphur springs.

Chadwick Falls

Chadwick falls are located about 7 km from the Summer Hill, surrounded by lush greens.

The wide range of goods that Shimla offers includes handicrafts, wood and metalwork, shawls, pullovers, local tweeds, caps, Tibetan carpets, pickles, jams and squashes.
